Getting started
- Install Media Organizer from the Wix App Market on your site and approve the permissions it asks for.
- Open the app from your site’s dashboard and click Organize My Media. Before you start, you can choose the language for the file names.
- Wait for the scan. It changes nothing.
- Review the proposal: the names we gave your files, then the few files that need you.
- Go on to the apply step, check What will change, and apply.
Your site should be published, so the app can see where each file is used (see Unpublished or password-protected sites).
What does my site need?
The Wix CMS. The app keeps its settings, a saved review and the undo information in one CMS collection, Media Organizer state. If the CMS is missing, the app says so and shows an Add the CMS button. Add it, then reload the app’s page. You don’t need Wix Stores or any other app.
What does the scan do?
It lists every file and folder in your Media Manager, reads your site’s public pages to find which pages show each file, groups files that were uploaded together, and uses AI to name each file from what it shows. Nothing is changed in your Media Manager during the scan. You see the file count and the proposed folders build up as it goes.
- The proposed folders follow your site: Pages, Blog, Products, Services, Brand & logos, Videos & documents, and an Archive for files that aren’t used on any page.
- On the Free plan, every file is organized into folders, and AI names 20 files in total. The rest keep their names until you upgrade.
- On Pro, AI names 500 files a month, and on Business 1,000. Folders are organized for every file (up to 5,000 in one run).
How does the review work?
The review has two steps, and everything you do is saved as you go. If you leave and come back, the app offers Continue or Start over.
- Names we gave your files. Check the new names, shown next to the old ones, and edit any of them. The Folders tab shows the proposed folder tree. Drag files to another folder (hold over a closed folder to open it), add a folder, or rename one. Click Save and continue when you’re done.
- A few files need you. These are files the AI wasn’t sure about. Type what each one is and pick a folder, skip it for now, or click Use AI’s Best Guess for All.
Nothing moves in your Media Manager until you apply.
What can the AI assistant do?
The assistant is part of Pro (40 requests a month) and Business (100 requests a month). In the review, tell it in plain words what to change, for example “put all logos in one folder” or “shorter names”. It answers with a card, Here’s what I’d change, that lists each change. Nothing happens until you click Apply changes, and then the change goes into your review, not into your Media Manager. Click Not now to skip a proposal. You still apply the whole review yourself.
What happens when I apply?
The apply step shows What will change: new folders, files that move, new names, and files that go to Archive. Then:
- Free: applies up to 50 files, the ones your pages use first. The rest stay in your review.
- Pro: applies everything, up to 5,000 files in a run.
Keep the page open until it finishes. A few hundred files take about a minute. The app saves the undo information first and checks each file right after it changes. If a file can’t be changed, it keeps its old name and folder and is listed in the result. If the page stops midway, the files already changed are listed under Undo.
Your site looks the same: every file keeps its web address, and Wix links each image by its ID, not by its name or folder.
How do I undo?
After an apply, the app’s home page shows Undo this organize with the date until which it works: 30 days after the run. Undo puts every file of that run back in its old folder with its old name. The undo information is saved in your site’s CMS and removed after 30 days. After that you can still rename and move files yourself in the Media Manager.
Is anything deleted?
No file is ever deleted. Files that aren’t used on any page go to an Archive folder, which you can look through at any time. When a run leaves old folders empty, those folders move to the Media Manager’s trash, and Undo brings them back while they’re still there (Wix keeps the trash until it is emptied).
How does the weekly tidy-up work?
The weekly tidy-up is part of Pro. After your first organize, new uploads get a name and a folder, following your folders and the names you fixed. In the Weekly tidy-up settings you choose the day and one of two modes:
- Ask me first (the default): new uploads wait in the app with a suggested name and folder until you approve them.
- Organize it for me: new uploads are named and filed at the tidy-up, and you can undo them afterwards.
The tidy-up runs when you open the app on or after the chosen day, or when you click Tidy Up Now. It doesn’t run in the background while the dashboard is closed.
Unpublished or password-protected sites
The app finds where files are used by reading your site’s public pages. If your site isn’t published, is password-protected, or its pages can’t be reached, no file counts as in use. In that case there is no Archive, files keep their current folders, and only the names change. Publish the site (or lift the password for the scan) and scan again to get folders that follow your pages.
Languages
File names are in your site’s language by default, and you can pick any language for them. The app’s own pages are in English and Hebrew. Wix accounts don’t offer Hebrew, so for Hebrew choose it with the Dashboard language setting inside the app.
What do the plans include?
- Free: the full scan and proposal, every file organized into folders, AI names for 20 files, and undo for 30 days.
- Pro ($14.99 a month, or $99 a year, which is 45% off): everything in Free, plus AI names for 500 files a month, the weekly tidy-up and the AI assistant (40 requests a month).
- Business ($24.99 a month, or $165 a year): everything in Pro, with AI names for 1,000 files a month and 100 assistant requests a month.
Plans are billed through Wix. There is no free trial. To upgrade, click See Plans or Upgrade to Pro in the app. It opens Wix’s pricing page, and the app refreshes your plan when you come back. If you cancel Pro, your folders and names stay.
What is sent to the AI?
To name your images, the app sends each image’s web address, its file name and where it’s used to Anthropic (Claude). When you use the AI assistant, your message and a summary of your folders are sent too. Anthropic doesn’t train on API data, and we keep no copy. Details are in the privacy policy.
Something went wrong
- “Add the CMS” or a message about the CMS. Add the Wix CMS to your site and reload the app’s page.
- The scan stopped. Click Try again. Nothing was changed.
- Some files couldn’t be changed. They kept their old name and folder. You can rename or move them yourself in the Media Manager.
- I upgraded but the app still shows Free. Return to the app’s tab; the page refreshes the plan on its own. If it doesn’t, reload it.
