Accessibility statement

We want everyone who visits this site to be able to use it comfortably, including people with disabilities. Here’s what we’ve done, what isn’t perfect yet, and how to reach us if something doesn’t work for you.

Our commitment

At Yairix Studio, we believe a website should work for everyone. We work to make this site accessible to people with disabilities, including people who use a screen reader, magnification, a keyboard alone or custom display settings, and we keep improving it as we add and update content.

The standards we aim for

We aim for the site to meet two standards:

  • the Israeli Standard IS 5568 (web content accessibility guidelines), which is based on WCAG 2.0, at level AA;
  • the international WCAG 2.1 guidelines at level AA, which add further requirements.

We don’t claim that the site fully meets either of them, and it hasn’t been certified. These are the targets we work toward. Below is what we’ve done and what is still missing.

What we’ve done

  • Clear structure: pages are built with semantic HTML, with headings in order, lists and defined page regions, so screen readers can navigate them.
  • Keyboard navigation: links, buttons and form fields can be reached and used with a keyboard.
  • Visible focus: the element in focus has a clear outline, so you can see where you are on the page.
  • Skip link: a “Skip to content” link lets keyboard and screen reader users jump straight to the main content.
  • Contrast: text and background colors were chosen to give enough contrast for comfortable reading.
  • Hebrew, right to left: Hebrew pages are marked as Hebrew and laid out right to left, so screen readers read them correctly and the layout follows the reading direction.
  • Text alternatives: images and illustrations that carry information have text descriptions, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Reduced motion: if you’ve asked your operating system or browser to reduce motion, the site respects that setting and cuts back animations and transitions.

The accessibility toolbar

The “Accessibility options” button opens a toolbar where you can adjust the display:

  • Text size: make the text larger, in two steps.
  • High contrast: stronger contrast between text and background.
  • Highlight links: an underline and a bright background on links, so they’re easy to spot.
  • Readable font: switch to a simpler, easier-to-read font with more space between lines.
  • Stop animations: stop movement and transitions on the page.
  • Reset: go back to the default settings.

Your choices are saved only in your browser (in its local storage), so they stay in place as you move between pages. They are never sent to us.

The toolbar is an aid, not a replacement for an accessible site, and we don’t claim that it makes the site fully meet any standard. The measures described above are built into the site itself and work without the toolbar, together with your own assistive technology and browser settings.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of the site are not yet fully accessible:

  • Older blog posts: posts migrated from our previous website may include images whose text alternatives are missing or incomplete.
  • YouTube videos: videos embedded in blog posts come from YouTube, a third-party service. They may not have captions, and we don’t control the video player.
  • External sites: some links to client projects lead to external websites that we don’t control, and their accessibility may differ.

If you need information from any of these in an accessible form, contact us and we’ll try to help, for example by describing an image or summarizing a video.

Reporting an accessibility problem

Ran into a problem? We want to know. Email us at yairixstudio@gmail.com and, if you can, include:

  • the address of the page where you ran into the problem;
  • a short description of the problem and what you were trying to do;
  • the browser, device and assistive technology you were using, if any.

We’ll get back to you within a reasonable time, look into the problem and let you know what we’re doing to fix it. If a fix will take time, we’ll try to give you the information or service another way in the meantime.
