Lumo Accessibility Toolbar support

How to set up the toolbar, what your visitors get, how plans and the visitor count work, and answers to common questions.

Getting started

  1. Install Lumo Accessibility Toolbar from the Wix App Market on your site and approve the permissions it asks for. Wix opens the app’s page in your dashboard.
  2. Choose the button’s color and corner, and add your accessibility statement page and an email address for reports (see Statement and report links).
  3. Click Save and turn on (later changes: Save). The toolbar is added to your site’s Custom Code, in the head of every page.
  4. Open your live site. The accessibility button appears in the corner you chose, usually within a few minutes.

The app’s page and the toolbar come in Hebrew, English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. Choose the dashboard’s language inside the app, and the toolbar’s language in its settings.

The settings

  • Color: the button’s color and the accent of the panel. The default is a familiar blue. Pick a color that contrasts with your site’s background.
  • Corner: where the button sits on the page.
  • Accessibility statement: the address of your statement page. Without it, the panel shows no statement link.
  • Email for reports: where visitors report an accessibility problem. Without it, the panel shows no report link.
  • Site name: used in the subject of report emails. Without it, the toolbar uses your domain name.
  • Language: the toolbar’s language. Use the default, follow each visitor’s browser language, or set one language for everyone: Hebrew, English, Spanish, Portuguese or French.

Changes reach your site when you click Save. A browser that saved a page earlier can show the old version for a few minutes.

Statement and report links

The bottom of the panel has three links: reset settings, the accessibility statement and report a problem. The statement link opens the page you entered. The report link opens the visitor’s email app, addressed to the email you entered, with a subject in the toolbar’s language (in Hebrew, “דיווח על בעיית נגישות באתר”) followed by your site’s name. Lumo doesn’t write your accessibility statement; the statement is yours to publish.

What visitors get

A button in the corner of every page. It opens a panel with 18 adjustments:

  • Text and zoom: bigger text, smaller text, a readable font, zoom in, zoom out.
  • Color and contrast: high contrast, black and yellow, inverted colors, monochrome, sepia.
  • Finding your way: highlighted links, highlighted headings, keyboard navigation (a strong focus outline and a “skip to content” link), no animations.
  • Cursor and images: a big white or black cursor, and image descriptions (the image’s alt text) on hover or always shown.

A visitor’s choice is saved in their own browser and applied on every page, with no flash of the unadjusted page. Reset puts everything back. The toolbar works with the keyboard: Tab or the arrow keys move between buttons, and Esc closes the panel.

Turning the toolbar off

Use the on/off switch on the app’s page and click Save. The snippet stays in your site’s Custom Code, turned off, and the toolbar no longer loads. Turn it on again the same way.

Removing the toolbar

Uninstalling the app doesn’t remove the toolbar from your site, because its snippet lives in your site’s Custom Code. To remove it:

  1. Before you uninstall, turn the toolbar off on the app’s page, or
  2. In your site’s dashboard, go to Settings → Custom Code, find the snippet named “סרגל נגישות (אפליקציה) – לא לערוך כאן” (accessibility toolbar, app, don’t edit here), and turn it off or delete it.

Plans

  • Free: all 18 adjustments, the statement and report links, your color and corner, for sites with up to 5,000 unique visitors a month.
  • Pro ($4.99 a month, or $48.96 a year, which is 18% off): everything in Free, with unlimited visitors and no “unlicensed” mark.

Plans are billed through Wix. Your plan, the visitor count and an Upgrade to Pro button are on the Your plan card on the app’s page.

How visitors are counted

Lumo counts unique visitors in the last 30 days, from your site’s Wix data: the same number Wix shows you in its analytics. The app reads it when you open its page in your dashboard. The toolbar on your site counts nothing and sends nothing. If the count can’t be read, your site is treated as under the limit.

The “unlicensed” mark

When a Free site passes 5,000 unique visitors in 30 days, the toolbar keeps working for everyone, and:

  • a small tag, “ללא רישיון” (unlicensed), appears next to the accessibility button;
  • a line at the bottom of the open panel reads “שימוש ללא רישיון: האתר עבר את מכסת הגולשים החינמית. לבעלי האתר: שדרוג” (unlicensed use: the site passed the free visitor quota; for the site owner: upgrade), and links to the upgrade section of the app’s Hebrew page (the same section is on the English page).

The mark is updated when you open the app in your dashboard: it appears only after a visit in which the count is over 5,000, and it comes off at your next visit once the count is back to 5,000 or fewer. Buying Pro takes it off within a few minutes, without a visit.

How do I upgrade to Pro?

  1. Open your site’s dashboard on Wix, go to Apps and open Lumo Accessibility Toolbar.
  2. On the Your plan card, click Upgrade to Pro. You can also use Manage Apps, where Wix shows an Upgrade button next to the app.
  3. Choose monthly or yearly and pay in Wix’s checkout. The “unlicensed” mark comes off your site within a few minutes.

If you cancel Pro, your site goes back to the Free plan’s limit.

Does the toolbar make my site accessible?

No toolbar can do that on its own. Lumo helps visitors adjust how your site looks and behaves, but your site’s accessibility depends on its design, content and code: text alternatives for images, contrast, headings, forms, keyboard access and more. You remain responsible for your site’s accessibility and for any legal duty that applies to you, such as Israel’s accessibility regulations and standard IS 5568. Use Lumo alongside accessible design and an accessibility statement, not instead of them.

Privacy

The toolbar sets no cookies, sends no requests to us and reads no visitor data. A visitor’s settings are saved only in their own browser. The toolbar file is loaded from Google’s cloud storage, or from Wix if that fails. Details are in the privacy policy.

Something went wrong

  • The button doesn’t appear. Check that the switch on the app’s page is on, and click Save. Then open your live site in a private window: a browser that saved the page earlier can show the old version for a few minutes.
  • Two accessibility buttons. Another accessibility toolbar is installed too, as an app or as Custom Code. Keep one: turn the other off in its app or in Settings → Custom Code.
  • No statement or report link in the panel. Fill in the statement address and the email on the app’s page, and save.
  • I upgraded but the mark is still there. Wait a few minutes and reload the site in a private window. If it’s still there, open the app’s page in your dashboard once.
