Getting started
- Make sure your site uses Wix Stores and collects back-in-stock requests (see the next section).
- Install Back in Stock Insights from the Wix App Market and approve the permissions it asks for. The app only reads data; it never changes your store.
- Open the app from your site’s dashboard. It loads your back-in-stock requests, products and the orders of customers who made requests, then shows the report.
- Use the filters at the top (period, request status, item status, purchase window and search) to focus on what you need. Use Refresh to load the latest data.
The dashboard follows your Wix dashboard language: English, or Hebrew with a right-to-left layout.
Turn on back-in-stock requests in Wix Stores
Back in Stock Insights analyzes the requests that Wix Stores collects. In Wix Stores, collecting requests and emailing customers automatically are two separate settings:
- In your site’s dashboard, go to your store’s Back in Stock Requests tab and click Start Collecting Requests. When a product is out of stock, its Add to Cart button on your site changes to Notify When Available, and new requests appear in that tab.
- To email customers when an item is restocked, click Activate Automation in the same tab. You can customize the email from that tab’s automations settings.
Automatic emails depend on stock changes, so they work for items whose inventory is tracked. When inventory tracking is off for an item, restocking it doesn’t send the email. The app marks these items as Not tracked.
Labels and menus in the Wix dashboard can change over time. For Wix’s current instructions, see the Wix Help Center article Wix Stores: Notifying Customers when Products Are Back in Stock.
What each tab shows
Insights
The summary. At the top: customers waiting now, new requests in the period, conversion, requester revenue and the median wait. Below, the cards:
- Worth restocking: out-of-stock items ranked by expected value.
- Why requests are still open: open requests grouped by the item’s current status.
- In stock, but customers weren’t notified: open requests for items that are available now.
- Hidden on your site, but in demand: open requests for hidden products or variants.
- Rising demand and Falling demand: the last 30 days compared with the 30 days before.
The Worth restocking, In stock, Hidden and Rising demand cards always use all requests and ignore the filters.
Products
One row per product: status, customers waiting now, requests in the period (and the previous period), a mini trend, how many were notified, conversion, requester revenue, expected sales, expected value, the longest wait and the last request. Click a row to see its variants. Use Export CSV to download the table.
Variants
The same columns, one row per variant (for example “Linen shirt · XL”), so you can see exactly which size or color customers want.
Trends
New requests per day, week or month, colored by each request’s status today (waiting, notified, other), and purchases by customers who made requests, by order date.
Conversions
What happened after customers were notified: notified and bought, bought the same variant, still waiting but bought anyway, the gap between them, median time to purchase, bought something else, and requester revenue. Plus the funnel, time to purchase, and results by request month and by product.
Item statuses
Each requested item gets one status, based on your catalog right now:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Out of stock | Visible on the site and sold out. Customers will be notified automatically when it’s restocked (if automation is on). |
| In stock – waiting | The item is available, but requests are still open: the notification didn’t go out. |
| Hidden on site | The product or variant is hidden on your site while customers are waiting for it. |
| Not tracked | Inventory tracking is off, so no stock change triggers an automatic notification. |
| Deleted | The product or variant no longer exists in your store. These customers won’t be notified. |
How the numbers work
- Conversion: the share of notified requests where the same customer (matched by contact or email) ordered the requested product within the purchase window. Wix doesn’t record when the email was sent, so the window starts at the request date. Only requests whose window has already closed are counted.
- Same variant: the customer ordered exactly the variant they asked for. This is the more conservative measure.
- Requester revenue: order lines of the requested product bought by requesters within the window. Each line is counted once.
- Expected sales: customers waiting now × the conversion rate (the product’s own rate when it has enough history, otherwise the store’s).
- Expected value: expected sales × price.
These are estimates. They are based only on what your store data shows: a customer may buy with a different email, in person or much later, small numbers swing a lot, and a longer purchase window gives a higher rate. Use them to compare and prioritize, not as a forecast.
Troubleshooting
The dashboard shows no requests
Check that collecting requests is turned on in your store’s Back in Stock Requests tab (see above). Customers can only leave a request on an out-of-stock product, so a new setting may take a while to collect data. Also check the period filter: choose All time to see every request.
Wix Stores isn’t installed
The app reads Wix Stores data and needs Wix Stores on the site. Add Wix Stores from your dashboard, set up your products, then open the app again.
“We couldn’t load the data”
Click Try again. Make sure you’re signed in as the site owner or as a collaborator who can access the store, and that the app’s permissions were approved. If the error continues, email us with the time it happened and the message you saw.
Hidden products appear as “Deleted”
The app can read hidden products only with the Manage Products permission. Without it, they appear as deleted and the app shows a notice. Approve the permission when Wix asks for it, or review the app’s permissions from the apps management area of your dashboard.
Requests stay open although the item is back in stock
This is what the In stock, but customers weren’t notified card is for. Common causes: automation isn’t activated; the request was saved without a variant (Wix doesn’t close those automatically); inventory tracking is off for the item; or stock came back in a way that doesn’t trigger a notification. You can contact these customers yourself, or check your back-in-stock automation.
The numbers don’t match another report
The app counts only requests in the selected period and purchases within the purchase window, and it measures the window from the request date. Other reports may count all orders or use different dates. See How the numbers work.
The CSV file didn’t download
Your browser may have blocked the download. Allow downloads for the Wix dashboard and click Export CSV again.
Privacy and data
The app runs inside your Wix dashboard, in your browser, and only reads data through Wix APIs with the permissions you approved. Customer emails are used in memory only to match requests with orders and are never displayed, stored, sold or sent to us. We operate no servers or databases that hold your Wix data. Read the full privacy policy and terms of use.
