Getting started
- Install Attach Files to Orders from the Wix App Market on a site that uses Wix Stores.
- Open the app from your site’s dashboard. On Get started, click Add to Product Page and confirm.
- Create an upload field: choose the products, write the title and instructions customers see, and pick the file types and limits.
- Publish your site.
How do I add the upload box to my product page?
In the app, open Get started and click Add to Product Page. Wix asks you to confirm, then places the box under the product options (such as size and color) on your product page. Publish your site to show it to customers. It works on both the new and the previous Wix Stores product page.
Why don’t I see the upload box?
- The product has no upload field. The box only shows on products that have one. Check that a field applies to the product: to all products, to one of its categories, or to the product itself.
- The site wasn’t published. Publish your site after you add the box or change a field.
- The box wasn’t added. Click Add to Product Page in the app (see above), then publish.
Upload fields
An upload field decides what customers can upload, and for which products. Each field has:
- a title and instructions that customers see with the box, for example “Upload your logo” and “A high-resolution PNG works best”;
- the file types it accepts, the maximum file size and the number of files per item;
- whether a file is required;
- where it shows: all products, products in selected categories, or specific products.
From your products list
In your dashboard, go to Catalog › Store Products › Products, open a product’s ⋯ menu and choose Customer uploads. Pick the upload field for that product, or turn uploads off for it.
Can I make a file required?
Yes. Turn on Required in the upload field. The box shows customers that a file is needed. If a customer adds the item to the cart without a file, Wix’s own cart and checkout show a message such as “Add your file for Custom mug: upload it on the product page”, with a link back to the product page. The order can’t be placed until the file is added. Your store’s Add to Cart and Buy Now buttons stay as they are.
Does it work with Buy Now?
Yes. Whether the customer clicks Add to Cart or Buy Now, the files they uploaded on the product page reach that item of the order, and required files are checked either way.
Where are the files?
- On the order page. Open the order in your dashboard. The Customer files card lists the files for each item, with downloads. The item itself also shows a line such as “Files: logo.png, back.pdf”.
- On the app’s Files page. Every order with files, with search. The Missing files tab lists orders where a required file is missing, and you can also see uploads that are still in carts.
- In your Media Manager, in the Attach Files to Orders folder.
Download links expire after a short time. To download again, open the order page or the Files page again.
Which file types can customers upload?
- Images: JPG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF and WEBP. The original is kept byte for byte, CMYK included.
- Documents: PDF and Word (DOCX).
- Design files: AI, EPS, PSD, INDD, CDR and SVG.
- 3D models: STL and 3MF.
- Archives: ZIP, RAR and 7Z.
Each field accepts only the types you choose. Files are checked as soon as the customer picks them, and a clear message explains a wrong type or a file that is too big. On the Free plan, files can be up to 50 MB. On Pro, they can be up to each file type’s limit: up to 1 GB for documents, design files and 3D models, and up to 4 GB for archives. Images can be up to 50 MB on both plans.
What happens when the Free plan’s limit is reached?
The Free plan has every feature, with up to 5 upload fields, files up to 50 MB and 100 uploads a month that reach orders. Only uploads that reach an order count. When you reach the limit, uploads keep working for your customers, and the dashboard asks you to upgrade. Pro costs $4.99 a month or $49 a year, with unlimited fields and uploads and big files. Plans are billed through Wix.
Are the files private?
Yes. Files are stored as private files in your site’s own Media Manager, not on our servers. A file’s public link doesn’t open, and downloads in your dashboard use links that expire. A customer sees only the files they uploaded. Read the privacy policy.
How long are files kept?
In the app’s Settings, choose how long to keep files after the order: forever (the default), 90 days, 1 year or 2 years. When the time is up, the files move to the Media Manager’s trash, where you can restore them. Uploads that never reach an order, for example from an abandoned cart, move to the trash after 7 days. Files count toward your site’s storage.
Look and languages
The upload box uses your site’s fonts and colors, so it looks like part of your store. To fine-tune it, select the box on your product page in the Editor and open its settings. The box’s own words, such as “Drag a file here or browse”, follow your site’s language in English and Hebrew (right to left), and show in English in other languages. The field’s title and instructions are the ones you write.
