What HomeFrame is
HomeFrame shows a changing collage of photos and videos from an album you pick in Photos: a regular album, a shared album or your whole library. Tap the slideshow to open your Apple Home rooms: lights (on/off, brightness and color), air conditioners (temperature, mode and fan speed) and favorites. After a short time without touch, the screen goes back to your photos.
- Soft transitions at the pace you choose; swipe back and forth between collages.
- Night view that dims the screen during the hours you set.
- Import photos and videos from Files without touching the originals.
- Accessibility: larger text, increased contrast, reduced transparency and reduced motion.
Requirements
- Photo frame: iOS or iPadOS 15 or later.
- Home controls: iOS or iPadOS 16.2 or later, and an Apple Home upgraded to the new architecture.
Getting started
- Open the app and allow full Photos access. Without it, sample photos play.
- Tap the screen, then the gear button (Settings). Choose an album.
- In Settings, under Home, connect your Apple Home and allow access.
- No smart home? In Settings, under More, choose Demo mode.
- For a frame that stays on the wall, turn on Guided Access as the app explains.
FAQ
Does the app change or delete my photos?
No. It only reads the album you choose. Downscaled copies are cached on the device so the slideshow runs smoothly.
Why don't I see my whole album?
Choosing an album needs full Photos access; access to selected photos isn't enough. Refresh shows what has already synced from iCloud to the device.
My home doesn't connect.
Check that the device runs 16.2 or later, that the home was upgraded in the Home app, and that Home access is allowed for HomeFrame in the device's Settings.
Privacy
No server, no account, no ads and no tracking. Your photos and home data stay on your device and in Apple's systems. Details in the HomeFrame privacy policy.
